Microsoft is continuously adapting its offerings and pricing to meet the evolving needs of businesses. In 2019, the New Commerce Experience (NCE) was launched as an evolution of their Cloud Solution Provider program. The NCE assists its partners (us) and their customers (businesses) by providing greater choice in flexibility, simplified licensing and savings for long-term commitments. In January of 2022, Microsoft initiated the rollout of the NCE and customers were encouraged to adopt the new program and leverage discounts. In this post, we will outline two-related important upcoming changes.

Canadian Pricing Changes

In October 2022, Microsoft announced that they established a process to align Microsoft Cloud pricing globally to U.S. dollar levels. Starting September 1, 2023, Canadian pricing for Microsoft Cloud and software services will be adjusted.

This change is a price increase (FX adjustment) for all Microsoft SKUs (M365/Azure/On-Prem) of 6%. Pricing for current contracts will not be affected until renewal. New subscriptions/renewals after September 1, 2023 will reflect the increased pricing. Microsoft will continue to assess pricing in local currency twice a year to consider currency fluctuations relative to the USD.

New Commerce Experience (NCE) – NFP/Charity

The NCE rollout is a multi-phased transition and now, beginning in November 2023, Not-for-Profit/Charity will be transitioning to NCE. In January 2024, Microsoft will begin the automatic migration of all renewing commercial and public sector customers to NCE.
